Our Story
Mortz Property Services traces its roots back to the early 1970s, when Mohammed Mortuza, affectionately known as Mort by his colleagues at British Steel. Mort began helping Scunthorpe’s workforce and their families find safe, affordable housing. Guided by honesty, reliability, and community spirit, the same values that continue to define the company today.
In 2006, Roj Rahman formalised and rebranded the business in his father’s honour as Mortz Property Services. What began as a modest initiative rooted in community values has since evolved into one of North Lincolnshire’s most respected property service providers, trusted by landlords, tenants, and business partners alike.
The Business
Today, Mortz Property operates as a third-generation, family-run business, providing a comprehensive range of property management and maintenance solutions across Scunthorpe and the surrounding areas. The company operates from Frodingham Road, at the very heart of the community it has served for decades. Despite continued growth and diversification, Mortz has never strayed from its founding mission: to offer quality, affordable homes and reliable property services for all through two divisions;

The company continues to grow under the guidance of Roj Rahman, a postgraduate entrepreneur with a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering. His vision and dedication to community service has guided Mortz, shaping it into a business respected for its integrity, personal approach, and lasting commitment to offer affordable housing to the community.

Beyond its business success, Mortz has always placed community at the heart of its values. This commitment is reflected through long-standing initiatives such as the Madani Youth Organisation (MYO) and the Crosby Homework Club, co-founded by brothers Roj and Oli Rahman. Both projects were created to raise aspirations, improve educational attainment, and provide safe, structured environments for young people to thrive across Scunthorpe.
Faith and inclusion also remain central to Mortz ethos. The company maintains close ties with the Scunthorpe Central Mosque, where trustees and volunteers support spiritual, educational, and community programmes that benefit residents of all backgrounds.
